According to the Chamber of Commerce of Maracaibo (CCM), an investigation has been carried out in which they affirm that the food basket in the month of July was located in 3.780.252 VES which represented an increase of more than 400.000 times with respect to the month of March.

The cost of the Food Basket according to the CCM is obtained through the compilation of prices of at least 46 of the 50 products that make up this food basket according to regulations of the National Statistics Institute.

The food basket represents the basic products that a family of up to 4 people must have in order to have a balanced diet for one month.

How is the survey carried out?

This survey is conducted by visiting 10 establishments being the same supermarkets formally constituted and popular markets in the study area (Zulia state). This survey assures a compilation of data that determines a correct report according to the spatial zone and geographical distribution of the establishments.

According to the Chamber of Commerce of Maracaibo it is necessary to have 94.5 minimum wages (which is currently set by the National Government at 40,000 VES), to acquire the CCM Food Basket. Thus the current minimum wage represents only 1% of the total value of the basket.

This entity affirms that in order to acquire this food basket it is necessary that the Venezuelan earns at least 126,000 VES daily which represents 3.2 current minimum wages.

Food data January – August:

For the month of January of this year the basket had a value of 948.625 VES and in July was at 3.780.250 being an increase of more than 290%.

Likewise, inflation has increased to strata never seen before:

  • From January to July 2019 Venezuela has accumulated inflation of 990.53%.
  • From July 2018 to July 2019 Venezuela has an annualized inflation of more than 63,655.82%.

Según la Cámara de Comercio de Maracaibo (CCM), se ha llevado a cabo una investigación en la que afirman que la canasta alimentaria en el mes de julio se ubicó en 3.780.252 VES lo que representó un aumento de más de 400.000 ves con respecto al mes de Marzo.

El costo de la Canasta Alimentaria según la CCM es obtenido a través de la recopilación de precios de al menos 46 de los 50 productos que componen esta canasta alimentaria según normativas del Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas.

¿Como se realiza la encuesta?

Esta encuesta es realizada visitando 10 establecimientos siendo los mismos supermercados formalmente constituidos y mercados populares de la zona de estudio (estado Zulia). Esta encuesta asegura una recopilación de datos que determine un correcto informe según la zona espacial y distribución geográfica de los establecimientos.

Según la Cámara de Comercio de Maracaibo es necesario poseer 94.5 Salarios mínimos (el cual es fijado por el Gobierno Nacional actualmente en 40.000 VES), para adquirir la Canasta Alimentaria de CCM. De tal forma el salario mínimo actual representa tan solo el 1% del valor total de la canasta.

Este ente afirma que para adquirir dicha canasta alimentaria se necesita que el venezolano gane al menos 126.000 VES diarios lo que representa 3.2 salarios mínimos actuales.

Datos alimentarios enero – agosto:

Para el mes de enero de este año la canasta poseía un valor de 948.625 VES y en Julio se ubico en 3.780.250 siendo un aumento de más de 290%.

Así mismo la inflación a aumentado a estratos nunca antes vistos:

  • Desde enero hasta Julio de 2019 Venezuela posee una inflación acumulada de 990,53%.
  • Desde Julio de 2018 a Julio de 2019 Venezuela posee una inflación anualizada de más de 63.655,82%.
